Sleepy Puppy

Free Puppy Dog Toy Knitting Pattern by Raynor Gellatly.

Hello all, I'm back again with another new pattern for you. Thank you to all the suggestions for new patterns made on my last post, you've all given me plenty on inspiration for what toys you guys are after. I'm busy working on patterns for my etsy shop at the moment but when I get some free time I'll try and get to work on your requests.

This little guy was a request of a fantastic lady called Faye who follows my patterns. She likes to knit toys for charity, so i was more than happy to oblige. He reminds me of Amineko (crochet cat), with his sleepy little eyes.
As usual he is knit on straight needles and seamed but if you know how to knit on DPN's then it I strongly suggest you do this as the arms and legs are quite fiddly.
So knit a snuggle buddy for the little ones in your life. I'd love to see more knit in different colours, and remember to share them on the knitted toy box flickr group.

  • Attach arms, legs and tail to the body.
Additional Info
  • You can use plastic pellets to fill the bottom of the hands, feet and body to add some weight to the dog, however its not recommended that you give a toy with plastic pellets to a baby or young child.
  • Add small magnets to the dogs hands and feet before seaming, so that it can 'cling'.

  2. He is gorgeous :0) You have done some wonderful patterns, thank you. You asked if anyone has any requestes - well can I be cheeky and ask if you would possibly create a pattern for a knitted or crocheted rabbit? I rescue rabbits at www.whiskers.eclipse.co.uk and am planning to make some soft rabbits to sell for fund raising.
    Best wishes,
    Andrea

  6. Hi, I made this - but I used #7 needles instead, and random yarn. I took pictures. He's sure not perfect but I think he's lovable. Thanks sooo much for creating these wonderful patterns that we can make and then share with those around us.

  7. Very cute!
Can you suggest how to convert the ears to pointy stand-up ones?
I'd like to make a toy dog that resembles a Great Dane, and I think this one's close. Thanks!
